Wake-up Call !

Her life was saved initially by a 20-year old Mexican-American gay college student, and eventually by a Korean-American combat surgeon, all eulogized by an African-American President."

     The Tragedy in Tuscon, should be for all of us, be a wake-up call. It reveled several damaging currents in American society.One is that were are seriously polarized in our political philosophies and opinions, another is that we are so afraid of being wrong, so PC,so uninvolved that we cowardly crouch behind convention in order not to offend. 

     The man who committed this crime was and is seriously mentally disturbed. His parents saw it, his friends saw it,his teachers saw it and NO ONE did any thing about it except to protect themselves. We might understand how his parents were reluctant to cause trouble for their son, they simple cut off contact, his friends turned away and school officials and law enforcement did not go the extra mile, they simply covered their butts.

      The statement by Mr. Shields, is heart warming and makes us feel pretty good about our selves, America has been called a "Melting Pot" for many generations, indicating that our country is an amalgamation of multiple cultures and races, while interaction is good and we have much to learn from each other we must look at the physical science behind MELTING. 

A- A certain degree of heat must be applied in order for a Substance (Culture) to melt.

B- Different substances melt at different temperatures.

C- Some substances begin boiling before others melt.

D- Some vaporize and disappear completely.

F- They do not blend,instead separate in layers as each melts with the top layers vaporizing as the temperature increases.

G-Some are destroyed by melting, while others are purified like Gold.

      I am an avid supporter of diversity, have a "Big Tent" ideology, beleive you are innocent until  proven guilty and love everyone. I am old enough to realize however, that we are not without problems and must be PC (particularly  cautions).

BECAUSE THE HEAT IS ON.
