BOXES,
BOUNDARIES
AND ZONES, These are mental, emotional, intellectual and spiritual "structures" about which we are given many instructions and advice in popular culture.
Social
commentators, both professional and amateur give speeches, write books and lecture about these types of
emotional
manoeuvrings.
We are told to '
Think out side the box
'- [ to do, say or act in a way outside our comfort ZONE], We are instructed to establish
boundaries and then on the other hand, to breakdown or cross these
boundaries in order to better communicate. We hear of athletes, performers and others needing to get
in the
ZONE
and others of the same ilk in trouble because they are ZONED OUT. While it may be a simple issue of semantics in some cases, I feel 'advice givers' give mixed directional signals to people.
When I observe, daily, how people generally react and respond to life's ebb and flow I think we may have created some dangerous situations by allowing people out of their BOXES. Today, especially considering the "dumb-ing' down of America and the lack of emotional
maturity
and personal restraint which is found acceptable, the lack of boundaries is critical.
Several years ago when I took some 'Leadership' training for the
US ARMY
,we were taught to prepare out lectures and remarks to be understood by persons with an average intelligence and maturity level of a 10 year old. We were taught to make our points quickly as most "people" had an attention span of less than 15 minutes. Test scores of American Children continue to decline, in what I beleive is a deliberate plan to dumb down America (
Tyrants and despots throughout History have known that the less people know and UNDERSTAND the easier they are to control).
This being said and hopefully understood, there are large numbers of people who should never be allowed out of the BOX, they should have SOLID BOUNDARIES established and be regulated to stay in what ever ZONE they are in.I know this sounds tyrannical and despotic but in this age of inclusiveness and
political correctness
we must use
wisdom.
Some people cannot handle the freedoms and flexibility we now allow. I believe both in acceptance and "ex-ceptance", we can accept people who contribute, abide by the law and social norms. You cannot build a bar next to a church nor a whorehouse by a school, I do not advocate the elimination of either liquor or sex ,there is a place for everything. In the words of the great
Arlo Guthrie
in
Alice's Restaurant
"they put me in a room with father rape'ers, mother muggers, hoodlums and deviants of all sorts and all I had done was a little litterin'."
"ANY PEOPLE WHO WILLINGLY TRADE FREEDOM FOR SECURITY WILL SOON HAVE NEITHER"
