When "The Prince" was asked was it better to be feared or loved said  " The answer is, of course, that it would be best to be both loved and feared. But since the two rarely come together, anyone compelled to choose will find greater security in being feared than in being loved."
    Through out history fear is and has been a great motivator, my desire as a parent was that my children obey me out of love and respect rather than fear of punishment, but I did not throw away my belt. In the last few years I have seen Americans respond to local, national and global events with great fear. Some of these were natural and reoccurring events, Earthquakes, Hurricanes, Volcanoes, Floods, Tornadoes, Forest and Brush Fires.These events are uncontrolled by man , except, perhaps-floods, and fires and in those cases often man's attempt to harness or control nature has led to greater problems in the long run. Man made catastrophes, wars,oil leaks, genocides, riots and pseudo-natural epidemics (H1N1, and HIV) all have caused panic and chaos. If peoples reaction to these events is left  "unchecked" anarchy will occur and often does, I believe that deliberate steps are taken to control the degree of fear and helplessness which is allowed to take place.

      What is this control , how is it implemented and to what purpose ? - The world media- (I know they always get the blame) I am glad that world wide communication has become so accessible, I am a NEWS junkie but to much of anything is a bad thing, In one day they can whip us into a frenzy and then bring us down by changing the manner in which they report things or simple stop reporting on it, which oft increases the fear factor. They decide what, when and how much information to give us on any issue.We find ourselves, intellectual poked, prodded and jolted at the whim of some unknown "MEDIA god" whose malevolent nature enjoys tormenting humans. This control of the media is the most important and effective tool of those with a "Machiavellian" purpose. In today's PC world it is called "Spin" the following is a somewhat amusing example;

            
"Judy Wallman, a professional genealogy researcher in southern California , was doing some personal work on her own family tree. She discovered that Congressman Harry Reid's great-great uncle, Remus Reid, was hanged for horse stealing and train robbery in Montana in 1889. Both Judy and Harry Reid share this common ancestor.The only known photograph of Remus shows him standing on the gallows in Montana territory: On the back of the picture Judy obtained during her research is this inscription: 

 'Remus Reid, horse thief, sent to Montana Territorial Prison 1885, escaped 1887, robbed the Montana Flyer six times. Caught by Pinkerton detectives, convicted and hanged in 1889.' 
So Judy recently e-mailed Congressman Harry Reid for information about their great-great uncle. A letter with the following information was sent to Ms.Wallman- 

"Remus Reid was a famous cowboy in the Montana Territory . His business empire grew to include acquisition of valuable equestrian assets and intimate dealings with the Montana railroad. Beginning in 1883, he devoted several years of his life to government service, finally taking leave to resume his dealings with the railroad. In 1887, he was a key player in a vital investigation run by the renowned Pinkerton Detective Agency. In 1889, Remus passed away during an important civic function held in his honor when the platform upon which he was standing collapsed." "

     "Spinning, My head is Spinning...." by The Pet Shop Boys- could be our daily theme song in today's "correct" world. 

       The purpose of this control is what is of concern, not only to me, but to many others as well.
