The Blue Truck !

I am always impressed how GOD ministers to us in small ways. I saw a real life sermon in the Pinewood Derby contest (small wooden cars made by Cub Scouts) which my Grandson was part of this past Saturday.
Aidan , my Grandson is not overly competitive and has the normal attention span of most 7 year olds. He just wanted a "PLAIN" blue truck. His PaPa and I showed him cars with fins, spoilers, racing stripes and all the “cool” stuff. He, however was satisfied with his effort, he was very careful to follow all the rules regarding size and weight, he is very concerned about doing things correctly. His was solid blue and resembled a pick-up, no painted on windows or other stuff but he was satisfied.
On the day of the race there were 24 boys, many parents, grandparents and siblings assembled in the church fellowship hall for the event. A long metal track with four lanes and a computerized timing system was in place. Checkered flags and other racing decorations were spread around the room.
His papa and I were excited but Aidan was just Aidan, happy to see his friends and waiting for refreshments.
A check of the cars reveled that, at lest on the surface WE had been out done. Classy paint jobs, plastic “drivers” , scoops, fins and other embellishments covered most of the other cars.
Each car was to race all others three times and the best overall time would be the winner. This took lots of time with 24 cars competing. His PaPa and I did our best to keep track of the times and each time the blue truck crossed the finish line first we (his dad and I) grew more and more excited, his quiet concern was only if everyone got a trophy or ribbon.
The event stretched past noon with a lunch break before the final races and awards.
All the boys were gathered up front with the excitement demonstrated by most in their age group, some sat quietly and waited ,Aidan was one of them as is his nature.
3rd place The Saints car, yea, 2nd place The Gold Bomb and 1st place The Blue Truck, Aidan had won over all the paint and extras on many other entries. He was of course very thrilled as was his PAPA and PAW PAW, I am not sure who was the most excited however most of all we were proud for him.
The whole experience reminded me of many teachings from GODS word, no matter what is on the outside, how “fancy” your appearance, or what you proclaim yourself to be its how you finish the race that counts.
Aidan’s effort bore fruit. How about yours?
