"I am to Apathetic to even be Complacent !"

APATHY; an absence of emotion or enthusiasm,the trait of lacking enthusiasm for or interest in things generally.
COMPLACENT; pleased, especially with oneself or one's merits, advantages, situation, etc., often without awareness of some potential danger or defect. 

These two things among a few others, most of which stem from the first two are serious problems in the world today.They seem most pervasive in our own country, while the "new" insurgence of patriotic and fundamental  fervor is encouraging to some extent, I still meet and hear from people that are excited, angry even enraged and I ask them if they voted last time,and most often receive some sort of negative response.

About the time our original thirteen states adopted their new constitution in 1787, Alexander Tyler, a Scottish history professor at the University of Edinburgh, had this to say;

“A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government.”

“A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury.”

“From that moment on, the majority always vote for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship.”

He went on to the list eight "phases", which the "societies" he used in his examples of failed republics had under gone;

1. From bondage to spiritual faith;
2. From spiritual faith to great courage;
3. From courage to liberty;
4. From liberty to abundance;
5. From abundance to complacency;
6. From complacency to apathy;
7. From apathy to dependence;
8. From dependence back into bondage”

This is unsettling in light of where America and Americans see them selves at today, I recently averaged all the "poles" I could find regarding people's view of our society and our direction as a country. I took numbers from independent polestars, republican, democrat, CNN, msmbc, fox, conservatives, liberals, progressives, bias, non bias every one I could find and a shocking 58% believe we are in serious trouble NOW and in the future. Most assuredly those people would offer diverse and diametrical views as to what the problems are and how to solve them, but my concern is the large number of individuals with real issues.
Our President IS CORRECT we must sacrifice [our egotistical self-interests form him on down],we must forgive [but not forget past and current injustices], we must help others[to be independent, self sustaining and self motivated].
He is correct but his motivation is suspect not because of some personal character deficit which he may have, for I do not know him as a person, nor do but a few, this is one of his problems, we do not know WHO he is. I am not talking about birth records, GOD knows there are many good, capable people not born in the U.S. (my paternal Great, Great, Great Grandfather was born in Scotland) My family tree has Native Americans, Farmers,Teachers, Ministers,Trappers and Soldiers in it.My concerns are that when we look at were we are going, or being taken, it is by a group of people who do not seem to have the same values that were instilled in most of us."We are known by the company we keep"
We must "clean our own houses first". most are willing to let someone else do it [including the Federal Government] ,have no time to be bothered [after all, TV,Internet,Golf are important too], "not any of my business"[but we can and do "bitch and moan" when it involves us directly].
Look at the list leading to bondage,where do you see America ?, where do you see yourself ?


WAKE UP, GET UP, STEP UP, LIFT UP, LOOK UP !
