http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bonsai I have always been interested in Bonsai Trees (see link above) , small trees or plants which one cares for and shapes into a pleasing creation. They require care such as picking the correct soil, watering correctly, feeding and pruning. Branches can be gently bent in different directions to create the most healthy and attractive end result. One ends up with a small version of a larger plant or tree.
I currently find myself in a situation where I perceive child rearing to be somewhat comparable to caring for a
Bonsai
. We have a guest in our house, she is our Grand Daughter with whom we have had little contact due to some family dynamics of the type which seem so prevalent in today's society. We will most likely have her with us just a few days.
We have noticed what we think are some needed corrections to the "watering, feeding and pruning" schedule for this beautiful "Tree". We want to see her become a loving, honest, unselfish, kind and intelligent adult. We are being careful not to over water, and prune gently. Wish us luck.
