This is the last , for now, of the discussion of the
"Seven Deadly Sins".
First of all, NO- We can control it, to some extent, we can understand it, we can accept that we are all HUMAN and therefore given to failure in some areas. The "Seven Deadly's" have been around since the beginning of time. Most "Holy" books have a list which varies only slightly, philosophers and other great thinkers through out history have written regarding them; Climacus, Dante, Chaucer, Marlowe and many others, extensively deal with them in their work. They have influenced and been portrayed in Art, Music and Literature for centuries. There was a series of silent films early in the 20th Century, one film for each "SIN", it has been said that Sherwood Schwartz based the seven charterers in "Gilligan's Island" on them. Several Comic Book Characters are based on them and a collection of Star Trek stories, Star Trek: Seven Deadly Sins, contains seven short novels, which link each deadly sin to a major Trek race: the Romulans (Pride), Borg (Gluttony), Klingons (Anger), Pakleds (Sloth), the Mirror Universe (Lust), the Ferengi (Greed), and the Cardassians (Envy).
There is good news, for each SIN there is an opposing VIRTUE - LUST/CHASTITY, GLUTTONY/TEMPERANCE, GREED/CHARITY, SLOTH/DILIGENCE, WRATH/PATIENCE, ENVY/KINDNESS and PRIDE/HUMILITY.
While writing this I have dealt with a few demons, fought a few giants and am convinced that I am not
"A Nowhere Man" and that if you will "Stand By Me"
